A concrete deck road bridge with steel girders, based on a bridge from South Australia (specially designed). Clear span 20 metres, 8.6 metres between kerbs, abutments are Reinforced Earth Retaining Walls, with ballustrading, Armco guardrails and overhead lights that show up at night.

The Reinforced Earth access ramp at right angles to the main structure is 90 metres long allowing access to the rail track level. The structure is a mocrossing and roads may be connected to the ends of the structure. Traffic will use the structure.

This is an animated dual rail track Bascule Lift span bridge, 72 metres main span, built by the American Bridge Company, and is unusual in its operation of the counterweight. The bridge was an attempt to patent something different without infringing existing patents.

It is a modified version of the Strauss Heel Trunnion type. One example existed on the Wabash (now N&W) outside Detroit.

The bridge is in the up position until a train comes along, and is suitable for a river crossing. It dates from about 1940.
